I’ve been meaning to share this reissue of Paul McCarthney’s side project The Fireman. I’m really fascinated in every sound he uses in this collection of songs but almost each song sounds the same on the LP. I’m guessing it might be for something as simple as meditation use or maybe there was a longer version of this LP as just one live set that he pieced out into songs and he ran the same sounds thru the whole piece? what do you guys think?

The little blurb on iTunes says that McCartney hired Youth from the Killing Joke to do a remix and he did 9 different variations all using the same material, not knowing that McCartney would release it as one album.
Sounds a bit dated to me, but in a good way. Just like old Bomb The Bass tracks from the same early ’90s era.
I have owned this since the promo release and it’s become very much of
“meditation” record. The sounds do change but there is an underlying constant to it that brings you back. It may not be 2010 techno, but it was NEVER supposed to be. This is music made by a man born in the early part of the last Century. It has a right to sound dated!
I believe Paul was on the search again for the next thing and this minor go around with ambient-techno was a good idea and right for “His” time.
As I’ve finally become able to transfer Lp’s to digital storage, my numbered, custom labeled, clear vinyl promo copy is up for sale.
