These are great- very appealing and sophisticated use of light. Each home looks cozy and terrifying at the same time. (summed up perfectly in his monograph’s title: “House Hunting”)

    gorgeous

Although the atmosphere may be a delight, the room itself, carpet, and style are very repulsive in my opinion. That carpet makes me want to throw up.

  4. Really cool photographs. They are indeed somehow cozy and homey with a sense of abandonment. They trigger back memories for me and an atmosphere of the past. I can remember sitting down as a kid on carpets like that and just exploring and rolling around. Those carpets are so comfy.

The second pic comes straight out of Scott’s universe I think.

  5. Rent says:

I agree David…although gorgeous, within there is that carpet…you could puke on that thing and never know where.

  6. Shelby White says:

    That carpet is hideous!

I do like the feel of both photographs. You don’t see that older style much nowadays…at least I don’t. A lot of photo work is falling around HDR and the over use of highpassing ;).

Gregory Crewdson did not shoot that Yo La Tengo cover. The band used one of his images for the cover (it is not the full image btw). Still a mighty good record.
