    Fantastic. Well done, Jakub.

  3. elkhart says:

loving the love to high wolf. i think the lists are representative of whats been shared throughout the year.

  4. Cameron says:

AAAAAHHHH MAN. I was trying to tag that Austra song a while back somewhere, but Shazam couldnt pick it up.
    Thanks Jakub sir!

  5. wayne says:

Gotye at #2? Nice choice. Even with the ridiculous amount of airplay it’s getting in Australia, it’s still a damn fine song…

  6. chiqui says:

As a long time silent rss reader, i must thanks for the nice hours of music at the office. Greetings from Argentina.

  7. Jenna says:

YES!! I was hoping Austra’s Lose It would be on here 🙂 It’s such a beautiful song!

  8. Marcus says:

Jakub make babies with me. Exquisite list sir.

  9. SCOPRIRE says:

    Just what I needed.

  10. digdog says:

is #1 a joke? the vocals sound absolutely terrible. and not in a subjective sense.

  11. Jakub says:

    Dear Marcus,

I dunno how we’d do that

    Dear DIGDOG,

    #1 isn’t a joke, John has talent

  12. Zenpop says:

Gosh, can’t take this seriously with Frank Ocean’s Novacane nowhere to be found. Bummer. That’s the best song of the year as far as I’m concerned.

  13. Lance says:

Austra, man I almost forgot about that song. Love it.

  14. chloe says:

Great list, you’re missing my favorite song: Dumbo Gets Mad – Marmelade Kids

  15. BROOKLYN BRIAN says:

I agree. #1 is actually terrible. The vocals make that song unlistenable.
otherwise, Tycho not in the top 25? that album was actually awesome. otherwise, thanks for the list! 2011 was a pretty good year.

  16. Chris says:

Loved #1. Hunting them down on iTunes now.

    Great playlist

  17. Peter says:

Cut Copy sounds like state-of-the-art music. Thanks

  18. Anonymous says:

Why the drums no number one?!

  19. Seth Daulton says:

I love the honesty here. It’s very easy to get lost in what other people/websites say. These are all great songs. Thanks for sharing and ranking these tracks. Your top lists always give me a fresh perspective of what’s out there. I tend to get overwhelmed by the sameness of top lists amongst the indie music community.

  20. Swade says:

I have noticed that you really like songs with those vocal recordings where it sounds like they are down a hall, revered, and underwater. It just seems like they record vocals like this because the vocals are naturally just not good. Maybe musically talented, but when songs have vocal tracks like this, the song is just ruined, in my opinion.

  21. JAVIER says:

    Jakub won the internet

  22. Craig says:

Loved nearly every song you post throughout the year, but I’m completely bewildered by your choice for #1. Otherwise, awesome list!

  23. Antonio says:

I’m not totally conveinced about the remix of blink and you’ll miss a revolution. It’s really good but still I think the original version is better. But thanks a lot for this wonderful playlist Jakub. 🙂

  24. Tomino says:

    Lovely.
Sepalcure, HOley Other, Keep Shelly, Austria.
Piece by piece artists and songs that came to me by Iso50, and rocking my top playlists each and every single day for the past year. Making my evenings, traveling with in earbuds and chilly afternoons totally complete.

  25. Ariel says:

Listening to this while painting Cambrian critters. A very objective and consistent playlist. Do you still listen to Trapdoor everyday?

  26. Shea says:

One of my favorite albums of the year was Belong-Common Era. Even though perfect life was the “single”, i’ve gravitated towards “a walk”, as well as the latter half of the album. great stuff. anyone dismissing it as more post chillwave shoegaze-esq is really missing out.

  27. John Maus says:

I’m awesome. No arguing, you hear?

  28. David says:

great playlist. this helped me discover some great new artists. never heard of sepalcure or benoit & sergio before but it sounds great! thanks jakub.

  31. Dashton says:

John Maus – Cop Killer. My number one song of the year.

  32. Topher says:

ok, i like this second half better than the first. except of course for active child; i’m of the opinion that ‘hanging on’ should be number one.

  33. Kain says:

The list needed more Tom Croose, but good picks otherwise

  34. Joel Nealy says:

You forgot Ben Famous – Dreaming of a Million.

The artist uses Washed Outs composition “Feel it all around” and rhymes quite effortlessly on it. Good lyrics and a message in the words.

He has some other good songs from “Megatron Bombs” which is his album out now.

I noticed you had Asap Rocky, which means you have an ear for hip hop that has an etheral vibe. You should really check his music.

    #2 is actually #1, seriously

  37. mg33 says:

This list rules. I listened yesterday and so many good tracks you’ve posted throughout the year are in there. Even bought a couple releases already after realizing that they were finally out there to buy.

  38. autoy says:

My wish for next year: please update your player to something HTM5-compatible. Congrats on the selection, top notch as always.

  39. Sara says:

Didn’t knew the Gotye one!!! GOD!!! You just made my day, my Christmas and NYE!
