Perched on a sea cliff in Phuket, Villa Amanzi is making me wish I was anywhere but home right now. The “luxury villa” hotel built in 2008 by architects Original Vision, is a spacious 2,644sm. I was going to throw this into the category of “stuff I can’t have” but then I looked at the rates/reservations page. If you go at the right time you can get the place for $2000/night, and it sleeps 12 people. That’s $166 / night each; not so crazy really. Now I just have to get back down to Thailand. Speaking of which, I was lucky enough to visit there once, I took some pictures.

Phucket,…that’s what I’d say every day of my stay there…beautiful place.
sick. damn.
nice architecture, but a total lack of understatement.
Interesting, I’m working on a house design with a cantilever pool somewhat like that and started blog surfing while the render finished.
Looks perfect.
David-
yeah, but this is Phuket, a place not necessarily know for restraint in the visual realm.
@Scott
totally agree,
but $2000 is what thai-people earn in a year, i guess. Considering this wouldn’t make me feel comfortable staying in that place. I think good design should also contain a sense for it’s surrounding. And I miss the solar-panel 😉
but a nice housing though 🙂
I’ve never been to Phucket – But I did stay in Koh Samui which is a tropical island off of the west coast of Thailand. Villa Amanzi makes me want to go back to Thailand even more.
Incredible, just stunning. Inspiration for success.
Thailand and Vietnam are at the top of my list.
Oh! I see you’ve found images of my summer residence. How nice of you to post them here :p
Oh people, let’s make our own little design conference and let’s rent that house for it!
Scott, any plans for your return to Thailand yet? I’d definitely be keen to pitch in to stay at this place. Thailand is one of my fav places in the world. Simply amazing, can’t wait to re-visit.
The first arial shot with the turquoise water is beautiful. The photo itself is an inspiring artwork.
Clearly a great deal of design work and thought went into this Thai villa! I must however agree with David that it seems devoid of a sense of place – although perhaps Phuket’s calling card today is that it is an international playground brimming with diversity. Combining a stay here with an upcountry rural villa would really underline the contrasts in the country and its peoples!
the pool is exactly the size i wanted
