After I posted about the Poladroid app some people were asking about a Lomo version of the concept. My friend Erik Pettersson has released a set of photo processing apps for the iPhone which give your digital shots that vintage warmth. There’s a Vint Red, Green and B&W plugin, each treating the colors a bit differently. My favorite is the Green, it definitely gives you that low ISO Lomo feel complete with vignetting. More examples are available on Erik’s Flickr. You can download the Vint plugins from the iTunes store or on your iPhone, one is free, the other two are $1 each.
Erik also sent the photo below he says he found at his parent’s house and which was the inspiration for the plugins. Everything looked cooler in the 70’s in Sweden.
that’s really nice.
but i dont have an iphone 🙂
I would love it if something like Vint was available for Mac OS X (or as a web app) to run these effects on my high quality photos.
(I know Photoshop has these filters available, but I don’t have Photoshop.)
On my way to the app store…
so awesome…thanks so much for the heads up Scott!
speaking of color, have you calibrated your MBP?
I’m curious about how accurate it is..
CameraBag is pretty badass as well, it has a bunch of great effects that I find are a little but more authentic than the vint ones.
looks pretty awesome. I use camerabag a lot too.
hey, is there something similar to this for photoshop? like an action scheme or something? it could be really useful and fun.
This app is awesome, congrats to Erik, and even better, the one i wanted was free (the green one)
Hey Scott, I guess that the Swedish concept of “cool” in 70’s was a little bit fucked up: http://pics.yemii.com/swedish-dance-bands.html

I’ve tried out a few versions of iphone toy cameras. This app seems to have the most natural feel. Camera bag works, but the vignette is too harsh.
pedro,
that concept is unfortunately still in use:

Thanks guys (& you Scott).
The icons are made by a friend of mine who lives for mac skinning. I love his stuff.
http://maxthemes.com/ has pics of the icons & his sweet iphone themes.
Cheerio,
Erik
Ooooh so the app has been released now? Awesome 🙂
Hey Erik,
Love the app, but I have a suggestion for the next version. It would be great if you had the option of taking any photo in your camera roll and apply the vint filter to it (like in Camerabag), rather than having to take the photo directly in the vint app.
I really enjoy playing around with this app. I am totally amaze with the vintage style. There’s a lot of iphone photo apps that offers good as well as fun photo editing.
