Void Watches vs. Nooka Watches

NookaVSVoid
I have been meaning to get a watch, lately I kept searching for the older gold Casio watches with the calculator on them but then I took the search a little more serious and narrowed it down to 2 brands NOOKA and VOID. First off this pretty much is a aesthetic competition in my opinion since not many people buy watches at this price range are looking for a Rolex plus their both digital. Nooka offers an attractive layout with a good amount of information and with a very clear face. Void attracts me because of the color of the digital light, finish, and that VOID font couldn’t of been picked any better with that style of watch. Which one appeals to you more? I think it would interesting to hear what you have to say because when I look at each watch I think their each made for a different kind of person.

Also, had to pick out some decision making music.

I like the Void – it is cheaper – but I’ve wanted a Nooka watch for quite a while. That exact one that you posted is the one I’d get, personally. I think it’s nice to have the bigger text, and the layout is very cool as well.

If I had $250 to spend on a watch, I’d get the Nooka for sure.

  2. StigC says:

I would definately go for the VOID watch. It’s just a little more classy.
The structure of the casing looks almost like wood, which is a nice detail.

I’m not a big fan of the layout of the Nooka watch. On first glance it looks interesting, but I think I would grow tired of it in the long run. The big digits also annoy me a bit on the Nooka. It has a sort of bad Web 2.0 feel to it, IMHO.

    Definately the Void watch. ๐Ÿ™‚
(If I could afford either of them!)

  3. Rasmus says:

I’d say the VOID V.01 GOLD it’s a stylish little thing with a nice leather strap, and a it’s bit more courageous than the others.
And it would fit in nicely with the overall colorscheme of this stunning site :o)

  4. Stefan says:

the last one looks by far the best. great design and nice font, where the font for the first one was really not doing it for me on a watch. i also think the first one will get more scratches/fingertips etc on it. so i would go for the last one. goodluck.

  5. drew kora says:

oh man! i’ve been pining for a nooka for years. must have. both are gorgeous, but i’d go nooka.

  6. Bas says:

The texture of the Void watch does it for me, definitely.

  7. matt says:

we have a model [nooka] with a similar finish, the zoo-c-sk.
it has a die cut metal plate on the face all ip black.
i’d also recommend our new zirc nt.

  8. Lewie says:

Hey, I’ve got an old gold casio, and am in the same boat, trying to seek out something new. I would say that the void has the edge. You can’t beat simplicity! I have never seen one before and I think I may get me a VOID in Gold with the brown strap!!! Thanks for the tip off!

  9. Martijn says:

I understand your question. The first one features this special way of displaying time but the other on is classier.
I would buy the second one and regretting that i didn’t buy the first one although i would be ultimately happy with the one i bought.

But … You can do what i once did and buy yourself the second one and give your wife/girlfriend the other one. In that case you them both without throwing away the money on buying two for yourself.

    Tada!

  10. Robert says:

I have a Nooka ZUB ZOT GG and I can’t tell you how many people comment on this watch. Once people realize it’s indeed a watch, they want to know how to tell the time. Then they either love it or hate it.

It was $140 and definitely worth it. I always go for different, and Void isn’t all that different.

  11. kyle steed says:

    the void for sure

  12. Emily says:

no no no. Nooka, hands down. It’s a must. You should DEFINITELY get the Nooka.

  13. Paul says:

Nooka’s are all quite unique and beautiful. Very beautiful. Julie Andrews beautiful.

  14. Daniel says:

I went for the Nooka ZUB 38 ZOT Watch. Its so fun and such a talking point when people see it. The only shame is they havent got a long life. Apparently mine will only last 18 months before the plastic strap may break and I cant take it out in full sun which is a shame. I’d go for the Nooka any day because its like learning to read the time for the first time, until it becomes second nature.

  15. Alexander says:

I’m really a watch fanatic and even at a glance comparing Nooka to void is really a miss match. Larger viewing area on Nookas custom LCD are very attractive compared to Void’s probably stock display module. Mineral crystal lens on Nooka is hard to scratch even if you tried where as Void’s large brush metal finish on the case will probably scratch easily and become very ugly and annoying. Nooka’s Electro-luminescent back light and various other functions such as alarm, date, chronograph is very functional. It seems like Void will indeed become void in function in dark without any light built in. Hands down Nooka all the way !

  16. Matt says:

I dig the Void watch from a purely aesthetic perspective personally. I like the off-set display and single button on the bottom right, brushed metal finish, etc. It’s very smooth, streamlined, etc.

But, having said all that, I think I’d probably pick up the Nooka instead, because it does more. I am a sucker for gadgets packed into a neat package. So I figure, I’m gettin’ more for my buck when I pick up the almost as pretty watch with neat other features. The other one just tells time in a pretty fashion. But with the Nooka, I can get the seconds, date, and the hour. Booyah.

  17. Ramune says:

If you want something a little more fun, I think the Nooka has a neat way of displaying the information, however I prefer the classiness and finish of the VOID.

Having said that, http://www.watchismo.com/ is having a 25% sale for Daily Candy readers and they sell the Nooka one. Enter code DCWATCHISMO at checkout. Not sure when this deal expires but I just got it in my email 5 minutes ago. Strange timing.

  18. Ramune says:

P.S. I was just looking at the vintage watches on Watchismo and there are some really gorgeous ones. Unfortunately the pricetag is a bit too high for me right now.

  19. Brian says:

I have to agree with a couple of other comments made about the vast difference between these watches. It really depends on what you are going for, but in my opinion, the only similarities with these watches is the band and the square face. Otherwise, it is apples to oranges.

First, with the Nooka I think you will probably get a much higher quality watch. I feel like that case on the VOID would dent so easily, and me being clumsy would get dented or scratched in the first week.

Second, the Nooka has originality in terms of how the time is displayed (not in terms of the face being square). The VOID is just a classic digital with a new layout. So I guess are you looking for a classic or something a bit different?

If I could spend that kind of money on a watch right now though, for me it would be a Nixon. http://www.watchismo.com/nixon.aspx You should especially see the Nixon’s when they light up, plus they have a retro feel. Stellar!!

  20. jules says:

i am partial to nixon watches personally. i have a rotolog and a connect.

    http://www.nixonnow.com/mens-watches/

  21. jules says:

i meant to say to check out the metal atom watch on nixon. they have a gold digital watch that you may like.

  22. Andrew S. says:

Tough decision. They both have their strong points.

    In the end… Void.

  23. Ryan says:

Great watches. I LOVE looking at watches… Between those two I’d definitely go with the VOID.

Aside, I sincerely appreciate your posts, Jakub, but sometimes it’s difficult to take them seriously with your persistent typos and grammatical errors.
I don’t mean to be overly critical; this is in fact just a blog. But c’mon, theirโ‰ they’re, and this sentence is just kind of… weird: “First off this pretty much is a aesthetic competition in my opinion since not many people buy watches at this price range are looking for a Rolex plus their both digital.”

Sorry, I do enjoy your content. I just wish it was better written, that’s all.

  24. Jakub says:

    Everyone –

how about that decision making music?

    Ryan –

I hear ya, I definitely didn’t do good in grammar school plus being born in Poland and your parents only mostly speaking to you in Polish kind of messes with you, its hard to explain I guess. Plus, I should be reading things over more carefully, once I start writing a post on here I start thinking about other posts I should do ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. georges says:

stylish indeed, but I would regret the loosing differential without an analog watch. so it’s yema for me.

  26. georges says:

and I should proofread my comments too.

  27. frank says:

the Nooka is a way more interesting design. The void looks like a really cheap watch stuck inside of a big box to make it more quirky. Why would you want to carry around all of that negative space on your arm? The brushed metal texture looks really cheap and ugly too.

The void looks like something that will feel very gimmicky and ’00s in another decade while the nooka is a little more classic looking in a vaguely Dieter Rams kind of way.

  28. brad says:

I’d say the Nooka. I love negative space, but not on my arm. Too much non-functionality on the Void.

  29. Ramune says:

Decision making music helped me decide on the VOID. Although it also got me wanting a whole bunch of other watches on Watchismo too. Good stuff!

  30. Markus says:

VOID would get my attention, the NOOKA looks a little too toy like and the grey numbers like a tad cold.

  31. Carina says:

I very much prefer the Nooka. I scrolled down and saw the Void first and didn’t think it was all that great (I’m not very partial to digital faces either), but I scrolled up and my heart hitched at the Nooka. But I think it’s only because it manages to be charming, even if it is digital. I absolutely love the side knobs too.

I think, in terms of achieving a different look for a watch, the Nooka was more successful.

  32. marshall says:

I like the VOID… for simplicities sake. That and the infinity sign in the Nooka logo is hokey methinks.

  33. Gav says:

I would say the Void is much classier all round. The Nooka is also quite lovely but overpriced and has a nasty plastic strap?

  34. Ryan says:

Jakub – I offer some apology, I did not know you were not a native speaker.
Just keep on bringing us rad music selections, cover art, and sweet content like this and I can easily overlook the grammar. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I must say you chose two awesome watches, judging by the comments. Over 30, and yet still no clear winner of the two!

  35. matthew says:

marshall, the nooka has an italian leather strap. been wearing mine for 4 years and haven’t had to replace it!

  36. gus says:

As much as I like Nooka; I’m inclined to say like some of the other posters here – go for a Nixon ๐Ÿ™‚ The Void is nice, but doesn’t do that much for me.

  37. mctullis says:

    Check out Vestal watches too.

    http://www.vestalwatch.com

Lots of sweet red LED action.

  38. ars says:

nooka, i have ZUB 38, and would like to get some more… someday…
I love how they show time, i would go for different:)

  39. bill says:

I’ve been looking at these for a while too. Before that I was looking at normal, issey miyake and alessi watches as well.. but no love at first sight..
and vestal/nixon/diesel just doesn’t do it for me.
Anyone know of watches similar to void and nooka?
I just wish that void would have a bigger selection.. feelin the one they have..

  40. Noran says:

    VOID. definitely Void.

    Classy, minimalist. A looker. ๐Ÿ™‚

  41. bill says:

hmm.. actually kinda diggin this one too.. the nixon dictator:
    http://image.nixonnow.com/image/product_detail/season3/products/zoom/A063-zoom-000.png

    can’t decide =/

  42. Ric says:

A reliable source (the designer/CEO) told me that the Void one is NOT a limited edition, as stated on numerous blogs! yey ๐Ÿ™‚

  43. Micke says:

I just bought the VOID, or I just got it as a christmas gift. And you cant even see the time, there is no way to light up the digits at all. Beautiful and all, but I think something must be wrong with mine, if I compare to the images at their site.

    Have anybody else noticed this?

    /Micke

  44. Jose M. Kent says:

Both are stylish but I pretty much like void watch….
    imitation rolex watches

  45. very very stylish and fresh try something from here

  46. AL says:
